On World Peace

Oct 3, 2023

NOTE FROM SUMMER:

My friend, Daniel Stief, and I had a radio show back in 2010, in which we would discuss fun spiritual topics, and sometimes close by having Daniel interview Dr. Peebles. My precious friend passed away in 2011, and I channeled him for his own memorial service with his close friends. I will always remember his wonderful laughter and beautiful smile. Here is an excerpt from one of the interviews with Dr. Peebles.

Daniel: There’s a couple of things I’d like to ask, but the one that is nearest and dearest to my heart is how can we get closer to having world peace? I’m a man, I’ve been in angry situations, I understand that. But, I’m so saddened by the continual wars that go on, the movies, the TV that make it likes it’s wonderful to have wars and kill people and I just…

Dr. Peebles: My dear friend, as far as we are concerned, what part of “Thou shalt not kill” does the world not understand? The only way to get closer to world peace is to stop. You’ve got to stop the fighting. But, it has to stop within yourself.

Can you be kinder to yourself? Can you love yourself as you are? Can you, if you will, be less concerned about whether you have gained a pound and instead applaud your beauty and your very special presence that you have amongst mankind? Can you be kinder within your heart to you?

Can you be kinder in the words that you share with your spouse, with your children? Can you become a better listener? Can you take the time to stop and pause and shake hands with a neighbor? Can you for a moment realize that perhaps someone’s angry towards you are really not about you, but is more towards themselves? Can you realize that sometimes it’s more important to keep your mouth shut than to open it wide with what you want to say from the inside out? (Sometimes silence is indeed golden.) And. can you stop the wars within your own neighborhood? Can you value the man who is on the street despite the fact that he might have an addiction, despite the fact that he might not be the most honest or living his life in integrity? Can you love him anyway? Can you give him a chance? Can you give him, if you will, a piece of candy and tell him to have a lovely day?

Can you make these gestures and bring world peace from the inside out? If you can find that love within yourself, teach others as well how to do it for themselves. Teach them by demonstration. Be the kindest expression of God’s love, light, inspiration and truth upon this school called planet earth that you can possibly be.
